An Intro to Naniwa Box: Japan's Latest Snack Box
Hey! Did you know that we launched a monthly Japanese snack box? That’s right—along with our monthly ramen box, Nakama Noodles, we now have a box for all of those folks craving snacks from Japan! That box is Naniwa Box!
We’d like to do a quick introduction of our latest box so that you get a full idea of what we’re all about!
What is Naniwa Box?
Here's the latest addition to the MiauMall family!
Naniwa Box is the latest Japanese snack box to hit the scene and the second box from the Japanese online shop MiauMall! (Have you checked out our ramen box Nakama Noodles?) Our box is dedicated to sharing all of the flavors of Japan in the form of limited-edition, seasonal Japanese sweets and snacks alongside snack staples that are enjoyed by millions across Japan!
Naniwa is the old name for the area that later became Osaka city, a known food capital in Japan. With the Naniwa spirit and a dedication to tasty snacks, we put the same amount of care into the curation of our snack box as we do with our ramen box!
But that’s not all! As a company of both Japanese citizens and foreign residents, we want to share everything that we love about Japan, including culture, history, events and more. That’s why we also hope our box can share Japan’s unique culture with you too!
What’s in Your Naniwa Box?
Every Naniwa Box will feature a different theme that matches the seasons of Japan and will contain 15~20 snacks and 1 bonus item to match! But what does “15~20 snacks” actually mean? Well, we don’t want to spoil the surprise of what’s actually in the box, but we’ll give you an idea of the types of items you’ll be snacking on!

Japanese Kit Kats
Yes, Kit Kats themselves have spread all over the world from their initial start in the UK in the 1930s. However, Japanese Kit Kats set themselves apart from the rest with tons of amazing limited-edition flavors that are often found only in Japan. We share these Japan-exclusive flavors with you every month according to our monthly themes.
Stick Snacks
We love stick snacks here. They’re tasty, have tons of variety and are easy to enjoy at home or on the go. With Pocky, Fran and Toppo, we can enjoy a sweet treat in the form of chocolate-covered (or chocolate-filled) biscuit sticks. Meanwhile, Pretz gives us a savory pretzel stick in a variety of unique flavors!
Potato Chips and Puff Snacks
Japan isn’t just great for sweets; it’s also great for a plethora of savory snacks! Potato chips, potato sticks and puff snacks bring tons of opportunity for unique and tasty flavors that we bring to every box. From Calbee’s Jagariko potato and veggie sticks to Koikeya’s Pure Potato potato chips, there’s savory options for everyone! You can even enjoy a sweet option with the iconic Caramel Corn puff snacks in a variety of flavors!

Chocolate
Japan also has an amazing variety of products that are perfect for any chocolate lover! Where Japan really sets itself apart in the chocolate game are the unique seasonal or limited-time chocolate flavors. From tiramisu Dars chocolate to Okinawa purple potato Black Thunder, we’re hooking you up with plenty of yummy chocolate!
Gummies
Walk into any conbini, and you’ll always find a section dedicated to gummy candy. It’s pretty easy to see why! Japan offers tons of different flavors, shapes and ways to enjoy these treats that revolutionize the gummy game. You may know the iconic tear-able Sakeru Gumi from the viral “Long Long Man” commercials, but there’s also the equally iconic Hi-Chew, Pure and Kajiru brands and so many more, all with awesome flavors!
Character Snacks
Japan is full of fun characters from the world of anime, games and kawaii culture. These characters get brought to the real world all the time in the form of tasty snacks for us to enjoy. Dagashi are snacks that are well-loved by children and carry a great amount of nostalgia for adults. These snacks are sold all over Japan in specialty snack shops or at the snack sections of conbinis and supermarkets. Either way, they always feature fun flavors, colorful packages and cute mascots. It’s quintessential Japan in snack form, so we’re sharing our personal favorites with you every month!
Savory Treats
We just listed a lot of sweets, but rest assured that you’re going to get a good mix of sweet and savory treats! We always aim for a 50-50 split of sweet and savory so that we can satisfy both sweet tooth folks and savory snack lovers! (That 50-50 balance may be off when we see some irresistible snacks that just have to go into the box.)
Bonus Items
We want to make sure that you really feel the season, so we like to finish off every box with a special finishing touch—a special bonus item! You won’t be able to eat it, but this item will be a piece of Japan that you can hold onto whether you keep it at home or keep with you all the time!
